Portland Metro Pipe Band at the 2007 Seattle Highland Games.
Portland Metro Pipe Band was formed in late 2006 as a competitive pipe band for dedicated musicians. Led by Pipe Major Mark Tomasetti and Drum Sergeant Andrew Finley, the Portland Metro Pipe Band is made up of Grade 1 and 2-level players from throughout the Pacific Northwest. Band members have played in many west coast bands, including the Maple Ridge Pipe Band, and the Sir James McDonald Pipe Band, the Willamette Valley Pipe Band, the Abbotsford Police Pipe Band, the Prince Charles Pipe Band, and the Clan Macleay Pipe Band. Despite being a new band, Portland Metro was quite successful on the Grade 3 competitive circuit in 2007, with several high finishes and a 4th place overall in the BCPA Grand Aggregate, even with not attending several games. Portland Metro plans to build on its encouraging start in the years to come.
